Faery Merry Christmas

Hit Songs of 1956

Perry Como, Doris Day, Pat Boone, The Platters, and those new upstarts, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and yes, Elvis Presley all made 1956 a unique transition between the crooners and rock 'n roll. The new rabble rousers would bring the western world to its knees, their parents said. Teenagers were hep to the new music, though, and ultimately politics was safe, because Presidents Clinton, G.W. Bush, and Obama all grew up with rock 'n roll, as did moguls Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, along with countless romance authors. Look where we are today.
